Olivia Poole (1889–1975) was the Indigenous Canadian inventor who invented the Jolly Jumper in 1910 after the birth of her first baby. She was living in Ontario and did not have a cradleboard like those of the Ojibway people with whom she grew up at the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota. Instead, she fashioned one with items from around her house. She sewed a cloth diaper into a harness and created a brace with an axe handle.
